LIVESTREAM: Davina and The Vagabonds

$15 to $18.5

Type: Concerts

Davina and the Vagabonds have become a force on the national music scene with their high‑energy shows, top‑tier musicianship, sharp‑dressed style, and Davina’s magnetic stage presence. Drawing on influences from Fats Domino and Preservation Hall to Aretha Franklin and Tom Waits, they’ve won over audiences from Vancouver to Miami and across Europe, one electrifying performance at a time.

Their story is as bold as their sound. Davina Sowers grew up in the struggling industrial town of Altoona, PA, where her much older stepfather introduced her to The Ink Spots, Louis Armstrong, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, and more through his Edison phonograph. From her mother’s Led Zeppelin and Simon & Garfunkel records to early classical training, music became her “first and eternal love.” But her path wasn’t easy—addiction, homelessness, and jail time marked her teens before she got clean, started the band in 2004, and rebuilt her life through relentless work and artistic grit.

Since then, Davina and the Vagabonds have performed in forty‑five states, twelve European countries, and two Canadian provinces, earning praise from NPR, the Chicago Tribune, and international audiences. They’ve appeared on BBC’s Later… With Jools Holland and PBS’s Bluegrass Underground, proving time and again that their blend of soul, jazz, blues, and raw honesty shines brightest onstage.
