Dale Watson is an award-winning country artist and producer who’s been making music and touring for over 40 years. He’s shared the stage with legends like Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson, and appeared on David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel, and Austin City Limits. With over 30 albums to his name, Dale keeps the roots of country alive—onstage and in the studio, including his own Wat-Sun Studio in Memphis, built around a vintage 1937 Sun Studio board.

Best known for his anthem “I Lie When I Drink,” Dale Watson’s music spans swing, Honky Tonk, and Rockabilly, including a film score for Yellow Rose. His instrumental album Memphians, recorded at Wat-Sun Studio, captures a vintage sound.

Dale Watson’s deep love for classic country fuels both his music and the Ameripolitan Awards, which he founded to honor rising stars and legends in Honky Tonk, Rockabilly, Western Swing, and Outlaw Country. For over a decade, fans and industry pros have voted on awards recognizing artists, DJs, venues, and festivals—making it a standout celebration of roots-driven country music.
