A bike trip through Belgium in 1988 inspired a young couple to bring the flavors of centuries-old Belgian beer to the town of Fort Collins, CO. Co-founders Kim Jordan and Jeff Lebesch started out with a basement brewery and the project grew into a unique, sustainable business model. In the 1990s, wind power fueled production. The brewery became a Certified B-Corp and in 2009 installed the largest array of solar panels in the state of Colorado.
In 2012 New Belgium became 100% employee owned. The Asheville, NC brewery opened in 2016, bringing the New Belgium experience to the east coast. Lion Little World Beverage acquired New Belgium in 2020, continuing New Belgium’s commitment to world-class beer with a purpose-led business model and strong connection to the community. New Belgium continues to work on the front lines of the climate movement to protect the health of our planet and ensure that beer remains affordable and plentiful for all.
Tonight we will sample some of these super Belgian brews.
